I’m writing this message to you today because I want you to know that there IS a simple solution to your fitness frustrations.
See, back in my football days, I was in top shape.
After a great college career and a ‘cup of coffee’ in the NFL, it was time to move on.
The transition was pretty smooth – except from a personal fitness standpoint. Long story short, I ended up at about 310 pounds:
I remember feeling so freakin’ fat – so out of shape, and different from my former athletic self – it was just flat-out depressing.
It was the picture above, in fact, that ultimately triggered my transformation.
Thing was, I knew how to train like an athlete, to get into football shape – but I had no idea how to train “regular folks” for weight loss and general health.
I spent hundreds of hours studying – and hundreds more testing various methods on myself – to figure out the best, most effective, and most time efficient methods to lose weight, trim my midsection, and take the ‘pain’ out of dieting.
I ended up losing 64 pounds over the next 7 months – and this experience ‘kick started’ my personal training career.
I’ve now got a decade of experience in the fitness industry, multiple nationally accredited personal training certifications, and a Master’s Degree in Human Movement.

I started doing some bodybuilding type exercises in my garage. I tried to set up a little garage gym with some dumbbells and a weight bench. I got myself down to about 190 and kind of getting back into shape and started to do a little bit of running. But then I started to get bored and I had kind of hit the wall and I wasn’t saying any more progress.
A friend of mine had been working out with Forest and seeing some results and mentioned that Forest had a kettlebell class. So I said, “okay, that sounds interesting. I’ve never seen these kettlebells before but anything that can be described as a cannonball with a handle, I’m going to check that out.”
So I signed up for the kettlebell class. It was a six week class and it kicked my butt every class but I loved it. It burned me out, I was tired but I felt great and I was excited about my workouts again. The other things about the kettlebells is that I ordered a couple and it was a workout that I could do at home. So it was easy. No excuse to not work out.
So I’m working out with kettlebells at home, getting the strength but also getting the endurance. Getting blasted and I started seeing myself losing weight again. I’ve been working out with the kettlebells, doing a little more running. I’ve actually signed up with Forest and we did some one-on-one training for awhile and Forest helped me get my strength up a little bit and showed me some more workouts that I could do at home. Also some variations on the workouts with the kettlebells at home, integrating some of the things that I had been doing.
Here I am today down between 165 and 170. I’m never bored with my workouts because I can always switch it up. I know that I have a wide variety of things that I can do at home if I can’t make it to the gym. I’m always able to mix it up and keep it fresh.”
These new workouts are like nothing I’ve ever experienced. I’m able to work my entire body in an amazingly short amount of time. I’m very happy with the progress that Denise and I have made so far.”
The thing I enjoy most about these workouts is the amount of variety involved. The exercises, amount of sets and reps, and weight I use are constantly changing so I never get bored. Also, the results I’m getting now are as good or better than when I was working out two hours a day, six days per week. These workouts never take longer than 45 minutes. Thanks Forest!”
As soon as I found out about it (the FVT 30 Day Rapid Fat Loss Challenge), I said, “I got to sign up for it and I’ve got to be committed.” I came four times a week and on the days I wasn’t here I was working out. I took one day off, I think that was suggested.
My number one tip would be basically be – on days when I didn’t feel like I got the best workout as long as the eating was right that’s what made the difference.”
I have been training under Forest’s guidance for about three months. I do three FVT Boot Camp sessions per week supplemented with cardio and light weight training at home about four times a week. I have followed Forest’s easy to follow guide to healthy eating by consuming only lean proteins, healthy fats and complex carbohydrates from the provided sample list and of course proper hydration. I still have cheat meals and enjoy the foods I love, just in moderation.
In the three months I have been training under Forest’s guidance I have lost 38 pounds. I have reduced my measurements by a full pant and shirt size. I am lighter, faster, stronger and have more endurance since beginning my training at FVT. I can finally do an unassisted pull-up and I recently ran eleven miles at a 12 minute mile pace. I am in the best shape of my life and am doing things I never thought I could do, thanks to Forest’s expert guidance.”
I really committed to the workouts and on days – like I said, I have a daughter so I can’t always get to the gym, but on the days that I couldn’t I would do Forest’s little suggested workout at home. I also did a lot of running. I did a seven mile run in Davis two or three weeks ago so I incorporated that.
I was just really committed – I had a number, 15 pounds in my head when I started and so I was just really focused on getting there.”
I have never had that problem with kettlebells … with kettlebells I can do squats and swings and it strengthens my legs and I don’t have problems with my knees.”

Since I started with Forest I’m down in weight from about 211 pounds to 178, my bodyfat went from 25% to just under 15% and my good cholesterol and bad cholesterol numbers reversed themselves.
I do classes at Forest’s gym once or twice a week where we do high intensity cardio with some strength training and then at home I use what I learned here and with private sessions with Forest doing kettlebell workouts and just straight cardio.
