The early bird pricing for the FVT Iron & Asphalt Challenge has been extended through this Sunday, June 8th.
Honestly, I didn’t do a great job explaining how short the original early bird window was. A few people told me they were planning to sign up and didn’t even realize the deadline had passed.
So I decided to extend it through the weekend to give everyone one more shot to save some cash and lock in their spot.
If you’re thinking about joining us—whether to hit a new PR on your bench or deadlift, train for a 5K, or just stay focused with a goal this summer—this is the time to jump in:

Now—I want to talk for a minute about the running part, because I know that’s what’s holding some people back.
You might be thinking:
- “I’m not a runner.”
- “My knees hurt when I run.”
- “I could never do a 5K.”
I’ve been there.
I’ve had bad knees for years—from football, from years of lifting, from just being hard on my body. I thought running was behind me.
But then I found the Hal Higdon run/walk method, and it changed everything for me.
This is the same approach I used to train for a 50K Spartan Ultra race—without breaking down in the process.
And here’s the thing most people don’t realize:
It’s not just “run when you feel like it, walk when you’re tired.”
It’s a structured system—with planned intervals that progress slowly over time.
You might start with something like:
- Run 1 minute, walk 1 minute
- Repeat that for 20 minutes total
- Do that 2–3 times per week
Then a few weeks later:
- Run 2 minutes, walk 1 minute
- Then maybe 3:1, 4:1… up to 5:1 or more if it feels good
We’re not trying to win races here. The goal is to build fitness, keep your joints happy, and stay consistent without burning out.
That’s the exact method we’ll use in your 12-week Iron & Asphalt training plan—whether you’re running, walking, or doing a mix of both.
And if you want to walk the entire 5K? That’s still a win.
You’ll still be showing up. Still be training for something real. Still building momentum that will carry into the fall and beyond.
Training starts June 23rd.
The in-person event is Saturday, September 13th.
And early bird pricing ends Sunday night.
Let’s get after it:
