Mean Bean Challenge Day 3 Update

WOW – this Mean Bean Challenge is tougher than I thought!

I am about 1/2 way thru day 3. Eating ONLY oatmeal, beans and rice is getting pretty old. I am actually craving vegetables, which is a 1st 🙂 And drinking ONLY water – no coffee, tea, beers, etc whatsoever – is actually also quite a bit tougher than I thought it was going to be.

But here is the thing – we CHOOSE to take this Challenge, and can go right back to eating “normally” after 5 days.

There are almost 1 BILLION people on this planet that do not have enough food to live a healthy and active life. And so the TINY difference that I can make – by doing this Challenge, and raising funds to support those in need – is SO worth it.

To 2 more days of … so … many … BEANS! –

Mean Bean Challenge – Day 1 Update!

As I write this, it’s about 115pm … and we’re over 1/2 thru day 1 of the Mean Bean Challenge!

For the next 5 days, I am going to be eating nothing but oatmeal, beans and rice – to help fight poverty and end hunger. Details about the Challenge and support us here:

https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/forest-s-mean-bean-5-day-challenge

I am a little hungry. I am a little low energy b/c I am drinking ONLY water (no coffee, iced tea, alcohol, or any other type of beverage besides water is allowed).

But the truth is, what us “Mean Beaners” are experiencing this week is a TINY taste of what 795 MILLION people in the world experience every day. That’s right – 795 MILLION people in the world do not have enough food to have an active and healthy life.

It REALLY makes you think about just how blessed we are to have the availability and abundance of food that we do here in the US.

And that’s what this Challenge is all about. There are TWO ways you can show your support, and get involved:

1 – Come out to our upcoming Charity Boot Camp – 6pm, Weds, March 21st at our 1530 X Street location. Sign up using the link below to reserve your spot at the event and support the cause:

http://bit.ly/fvtmeanbean2018

This is a great opportunity for you to try a boot camp if you’re new, OR to get an extra workout in if you’re currently training with us.

2 – If you can’t make it out, but still want to show your support, donate online at the link below:

Thank you! Wish us luck! ’till next time! 🙂

Pocket / Greehaven Lean + Jacked Group

Hey guys!

We are circling back around on starting up an advanced / heavy lifting group at the Pocket / Greenhaven location.

It would be at 715 am on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

– You could do one or both days
– Small group size – 5 people MAX per workout
– It is what we call “semi-private” training – the workouts are built for the group that signs up and their specific goals; you get more coaching and form attention than you would in a boot camp; and the small group just feels more like personal training than it does a boot camp
– Cost would be +/- 30 per workout / sessionThis is a popular program at our Land Park / Downtown location, so we are thinking of starting up a couple of groups at the Pocket / Greenhaven as well.
We are ready to start! – with me tentatively leading Tuesday mornings, and Sarai tentatively leading Thursdays.

Right now I think we have 3 folks who have expressed interest.

If we get 1 or 2 more we will make it happen!

Just leave a message using the form below:

And let me know if you are interested.

Thanks!

meet Matunda

Can you imagine working all day on someone else’s farm, and getting paid at the end of the day … in leaves?

This is the shocking reality for Matunda.

Matunda and her three children are Mbuti pygmies. They live in a remote village, deep in the forest of the DRC (Democratic Republic of Congo).

She desperately wants to provide for her family, but all she gets for a hard day’s labor is a tiny handful of yams and cassava leaves. They only eat one small meal a day.

Something has to be done. We are fundraising to empower people like Matunda so that they can lift themselves out of poverty.

Our goal is to raise $830 at our Charity Boot Camp event next Weds the 21st. This amount will give ten women like Matunda the skills they need to provide for their families.

We will be doing the Mean Bean Challenge as a team – during the week of March 19-23 – and your contribution and attendance at this event is to support us!
