Maybe you want to lose 10 or 20 pounds of fat, gain some lean muscle, and just improve your overall condition.
Maybe you’ve been thinking about it for quite a while now.
You see a picture of yourself on Facebook, are a little disgusted, and that’s it.
You decide – I’m going to start a new fitness program!
I’m going to lose this weight and get myself back in shape!
But then you think – oh no, wait: we have a Holiday weekend coming up where we’re going to be out of town. We’ll be busy leading up to that, and probably will be eating and drinking and all kinds of stuff.
I’ll wait ’till we get back into town.
So you wait.
Then you get back into town.
You’re busy at work for the first day or two since you were out for a few days and got a little behind.
You forget about how you were going to start your workout plan.
And then you remember, and you start researching gyms again. You’re excited. You’re ready to start reaching out to some different places and give one a try.
But now, your kid gets sick!
Your schedule is thrown all out of whack.
So you wait.
And the cycle begins again …

We are excited to officially welcome Kendall to the FVT Team!
Kendall’s love for fitness began when she was 7 and fell in love with the sport of swimming. She swam for 15 years, ultimately receiving a partial athletic scholarship to Ohio University, a Mid- American Conference Division I school. During her college athletic career, she excelled in middle-distance events, with a primary focus on Butterfly and the Individual Medley.
For the past 12 years Kendall maintained a healthy lifestyle while moving up the ranks in the Hospitality Industry, finally reaching the level of Director. During this time Kendall became a client at FVT and trained to compete in Spartan Races — ultimately earning her first Trifecta medal in 2016. Kendall recently became a new mom to her now 6 month old daughter. During her maternity leave, Kendall reignited her passion for fitness and became an ACE Certified Group Fitness Instructor. Since then, she has changed career paths to focus on her fitness career.
Kendall will be working into the regular boot camp rotation at both of our locations over the next few months.
She is also currently accepting personal training clients – apply to work with her here => http://bit.ly/may2019fvtpt
We have a handful of spots left in our personal training program for the month of May.

– Just getting started, and want / need more individualized attention – Want specific guidance on something – extra core workouts, learning / refining the basics of kettlebells, perhaps dailing in your nutrition – Simply prefer to work with a trainer one-on-one vs in a group setting
This could be the perfect for you.

In today’s video, I talk about things you should consider when hiring a trainer.
In my experience – working with thousands of clients personally over the last 12 years, as well as directly hiring and managing dozens and dozens of personal trainers in that time – the three most important things are:
1 – A warm and friendly demeanor 2 – Clear instruction 3 – Knowledge in helping you reach your specific fitness goals
I go into each of these points in more detail in the video.
Check it out!

This is a question that I know crosses a LOT of people’s minds when they are looking to start a new fitness program.
In my own biased opinion 🙂 … I think 99% of the time, the answer is, you should hire a trainer.
And here is why:
The #1 challenge for the majority of people is just sticking to an exercise program for an extended period of time.
When you have a trainer(and you need to make sure you choose the RIGHT trainer – a topic I plan to cover in a future article!), it adds in a HUGE factor in keeping you on track.
Because they hold you accountable to showing up.
When you have someone expecting you to be at a session two or three or four times per week, you’re on the hook for getting it done!
This is why people who hire a trainer, on the average, have a MUCH higher success rate than those who just join a gym. (Another topic for a future post!)
Now let’s say you are in the minority, and you already stay consistent with your workout program. You could certainly join a gym and just show up and exercise and do fine.
But I would argue that if you pick the RIGHT trainer, they are going to help you really get a lot better results.
Because they can help you train for a specific goal, and design a program for you that’s going to work you towards that goal in the fastest way possible.
They can also help you with your exercise form and make sure you’re doing the movements properly and getting the most out of them and not getting injured.
The only person who doesn’t need a trainer is the unicorn who never misses workouts, has mastered safe and effective form in their discipline of choice, and are just incredibly dialed in. (I have yet to meet this person by the way so far in life – though they may be out there!)
In conclusion, in my humble opinion, I think EVERYONE who is looking to start, OR take their fitness program to the next level, could benefit from hiring a trainer.
Let us know if we can help 🙂
